What are wrinkles and how are they caused?

Wrinkles are often associated with images of matured women and men who have to tolerate the facial creases that go along with the aging process. But what really are wrinkles and does aging have something to do with it?

Wrinkles refer to the thin, ceased and sagging skin that is quite noticeable on the face, neck and hands. From the looks of it, wrinkles are categorized either as fine surface lines or those deep furrows. Wrinkles usually appear on said parts of the body because these are the regions that constantly get exposed to the sun’s UV rays. The harmful UV rays dry the skin, particularly for people born with a lighter skin tone that easily gets damaged with prolonged exposure to heat.  The skin tends to lose moisture whenever our hides get a tantamount of beating from the sun’s heat to result in the formation of wrinkles.

While solar heat induces wrinkle formation, there are about a dozen other factors often overlooked, that likewise contributes to this skin disorder. Would you believe that certain hairstyles and even the clothes that we wear could stimulate wrinkle formation? Some hairstyles leave the face and neck directly exposed to the sun. On the other hand, frequent wear of sleeveless tops puts the arms and shoulder in direct contact with the sun’s UV rays.

Going to those tanning salons is a sure way to get wrinkle spots as well. Sporting a tan look definitely has its perks, but frequent tanning will eventually merit you the appearance of visible lines on your face. Smoking is another contributor to wrinkle formation since a nicotine habit deliberately dries the skin. Moreover, stress could be linked to the development of premature wrinkles since recurring stress lets a person habitually contract those facial muscles and the stretches become more visible in time.

Wrinkles however do not just inflict women but also men. Women are by nature more vain than men and thus would easily notice unlikely skin formation. Nevertheless, the media hype put into skin care has persuaded a number of men to get on the cosmetics bandwagon.  Does this mean that wrinkle formation is not in any way related to aging?

Well, it still is! At the age of 40, it is but normal for wrinkles to appear on the face. Yet, it is sad to know that some people, even at the young age of 25 can already contract wrinkles. To some, it is hereditary and as a matter of genetic configuration, their skin cells do not reproduce as fast as it should. Thus, more dead and dull cells form on the upper layer of the skin that trigger the appearance of thin lines on the corners of the eyes and along the laugh lines of the face. Others simply suffer from hormonal imbalances and constant weight gain or loss sag the skin. When the skin loosens up, wrinkles become evident.

Many people put much premium on the upkeep of a youthful appearance even as they age. Admit it, but wouldn’t you want to preserve a young and healthy skin tone even past the age of 40? Yet before you can achieve this, due knowledge on the nature of human skin and wrinkle formation as well will surely help you start on a skin regimen that will avert you from the above mentioned wrinkling agents.

Get healthy skin and a healthy body for 2008

Hello-

Re: How to get healthy skin and a healthy body for 2008

2008 is almost here and it’s time to start thinking about how we want to change our lives to make sure we live longer, happier, and healthier. Many of the top New Year’s resolutions people make each year – lose weight, eat right, get fit, drink less alcohol, and reduce stress – all have an impact on how we age.

This is important to keep in mind. If you’re reading this blog, you want to know about anti aging and how to get healthy skin and how to live longer. The keys to doing that are all summed up in those New Year’s resolutions we fail to keep each year – year in and year out. By reducing the stress in your life or how you handle it, you can reduce the appearance of premature aging and wrinkles on your skin and face. By eating right – eating more fruits and vegetables – you can boost your collagen production which will help keep your skin firm and supple.

Losing weight will prevent numerous health and age related problems the being overweight causes.

Getting fit by exercising – walking, running, swimming, playing sports – will help you deal with stress and provide a healthy release for you instead of consuming alcohol.

All these issues work together to take care of your body and if you choose to stick with these resolutions you will look better, your skin will feel better and not require hundreds of dollars of expensive anti aging face creams.

So here’s to the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008.

Have a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Best Natural Anti Aging and Skin Care Tips

A simple tip to help with anti aging

Hello-

One of the leading causes of aging is stress.  Too much stress in your life can cause premature aging and it can make you overweight and make you look much older than you really are.  The earlier in life you learn how to manage the stress in your life, the better off you’ll look.

I want to share a short article with you today about dealing with stress.

How to deal with stress: smile

There have been tons of studies one to show that smiling makes us feel better.  Just the physical act of smiling improves our mood and helps shift our thoughts from negative to positive.  Sure, we usually smile when we’re happy already, but studies have shown that the smiling helps uplift our spirits and improve our mood even when it’s forced or if we don’t know we’re doing it at all!

Sure, smiling makes you feel better, but how does that help de-stress someone else?  Next time you walk past someone on the street or in a hallway, try this experiment: look at them, smile, and then watch their face.  Chances are they’ll smile back.  When someone smiles at us, we tend to smile, whether it’s on purpose or just by instinct.   Smiling is contagious, and as I already said, just the act of smiling makes that person feel better about life.  Sure, the smile’s probably forced, but it works either way.

Want to know what’s even more infectious than a smile?  A positive attitude.  If we think positively, and point out the good things in life, we encourage others around us to do so to.  Since smiling puts us in a better mood, we’re not only spreading stress relief through getting other people to smile, we’re also doing it my spreading our good mood.  That makes smiling a double whammy.

Are you more likely to be friends with a person who smiles and is kind to you or someone who is always busy, stressed, and never pays attention to you?  Hopefully you answered the person who is kind to you.  Being pleasant and smiling at a person makes them more likely to open up and be friends with you, and friends are a fantastic stress reliever.  It gives us someone to share problems with, relax with, or just blow off steam to.  Don’t stop smiling once someone is your friend.  A smile can be a silent show of support or a reminder of friendship.

So, what’re you waiting for?  Help de-stress someone around you while giving your cheeks a workout.  Smile!

There you have – a simple tip you can use to help fight off the appearance of aging and wrinkles.  Smile and laugh for no reason throughout your day.  See how much more enjoyable your day will be.

Treatments for premature aging

Treatments for premature aging – So many choices, so little time.

With so many products out there, how do you choose one?

There are so many choices…

  • Over the counter products
  • Prescription products
  • Do it yourself (DIY) products
  • Skin peels
  • Surgery
  • Combination of any of these
  • And on and on

In my opinion surgery should be a last resort but I know it is not for many women out there.

I have searched high and low for many more hours than I wish to count for products that work.  I have read so many reviews both good and bad about high priced products that make so many promises but deliver little results and then there are some that actually work.

There is one caveat though – your mileage may vary.  What works for one person will not work for another.  One can cause smooth beautiful skin in one person and cause acne in another.  Factors affecting your results are: your race, ethnicity, and genetics.  These help determine your skin type.

What I’ve found is that you need to take a combined approach to fighting off the signs of aging.  Some of it is unavoidable as we age but we can minimize the damage as we go along waiting for the latest and greatest products to come along.

The main components of this recommended skin care regimen are going to be eating foods that help produce collagen, Vitamin C, sunscreen, DIY products, Obagi products, Retin A, Hydroquinone, and reducing some of the causes of aging in the first place – too much unprotected sun exposure, smoking and bad eating habits.

Now you may have heard about some of these products and you may have tried some of them already.  What I want to share with you is results that others have had with their skin care regimens and how you may incorporate some of these ideas in your own skin care regimen if you’re not getting the results you want.
