Hello-

I just finished reading an interesting article in the latest issue of Redbook about how to live longer.  It contained several tips on how to add years to your life.  The good news is that they are not that hard.

One of the tips for adding one year to your life was getting a dog and taking them for a walk.  Playing with your dog helps lower your stress levels and helps you relax.  You can combine this tip with the exercise tip.  Exercise – walking half an hour a day – can add up to 3 years or more to your life.  You can take your dog for a walk and both of you can stay in shape.

Losing weight can also help you live longer.  Being overweight causes several health problems later in life.  Having extra pounds causes you body to work harder and can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, and other ailments that can shorten your lifespan.  Check out fat loss for idiots to help you lose weight fast.

Another tip was to have sex more often if you’re not having enough.  Sex has other benefits other than just helping you live longer :o )

One thing that surprised me was flossing.  It can add up to 6 years or more to your life just by flossing everyday along with regular checkups and brushing after meals.

Is your glass half empty or half full?

If you answer half full then you can add more years to your life than if you say half empty.  Researchers say being optimistic can add up to 7.5 years to your life.  Now that’s something to get cheerful about.

When I wake up in the afternoon (I sleep late) I say thank you several times.  This always helps me start my day on a bright note.  Why do I say this?  Because there are many people who didn’t make it through the day are cannot say thank you that they woke up.

Try it tomorrow when you wake up.  And then rush into the shower since you overslept.  :o )

Lastly, quit smoking.  This is one of the biggest causes or premature aging, especially on your skin.  I’ve written about this one several times before on this blog.  Quitting smoking can add 6 to 8 years back to your life.

It basically all boils down to having good habits.  Treat your body right and it will treat you right.  Eat better, have more sex, exercise, reduce your stress, lose weight, floss and quit smoking.

Those are the secrets to anti aging.  Those are the secrets to staying young and looking beautiful.
